On the 23rd August 1795 the members of the Selkirk Theological Hall met for the purpose of forming themselves into a society, and the first meeting of this society, which adopted the name of the Theological Society of Selkirk, took place 4 days later on the 27th August. All members of the Theological Hall were expected to join and attend meetings which took place each week in Selkirk, at which the members held debates and discussions of a theological nature. The last recorded meeting of the society took place in 1823 |
