The congregation of Maryculter Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Aberdeen, was established in 1843 at the time of the Disruption and the charge was later sanctioned in 1844. Worship initially took place in a barn until the church was opened in August 1844 and Maryculter was united in 1852 with the congregation of Bourtreebush, this arrangement however was terminated in 1876. In 1900, upon the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, Maryculter Free Church became Maryculter United Free and following the 1929 union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, Maryculter United Free was renamed Maryculter Altries Church of Scotland. The congregation was later dissolved in 1935. |
