The congregation of Lethendy Associate, which belonged to the Antiburgher branch of the Secession church, was first established following the presentation of a petition to the Presbytery of Perth in 1785, signed by 85 residents of Lethendy and the surrounding areas and requesting the provision of service. As a result, the first minister of Lethendy was ordained in 1787. The building of new church of the congregation had been completed some time prior to the ordination. In 1885, following the death of the second minister of the charge, Joseph Hay, and during the year in which the 99 year lease of the church property was due to expire, the congregation of Lethendy United Presbyterian was dissolved. |
