The congregation of Kirkmichael Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Abernethy, was established in 1843 at the time of the Disruption when the minister and a number of the congregation of Kirkmichael Parish Church adhered to the Free Church. The church and manse of the charge were erected during the following year and a mission hall was later built in Tomintoul in 1896. In 1900, upon the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, Kirkmichael Free Church became Kirkmichael United Free and following the 1929 union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, the charge was renamed Kirkmichael Dalvrecht Church of Scotland. A number of years thereafter in 1943, the Dalvrecht section of Kirkmichael Dalvrecht was united with Kirkmichael St Michael's and the Tomintoul portion was joined with the congregation of Tomintoul. |
