The congregation of Insch Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Garioch, was established in 1843 at the time of the Disruption and initially was placed under the temporary care of a probationer, until the appointment of a minister later during that same year. A manse and temporary church were also provided in 1843 and a new church was later opened in 1852. In 1900, at the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, Insch Free Church became Insch United Free and following the 1929 union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland the charge was renamed Insch East, Church of Scotland. Insch East later went on to unite in 1944 with the congregation of Insch West, under the name of Insch, and following this local union the former East church ceased to be used as a place of worship. |
