The congregation of Humbie and Fala Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Haddington and Dunbar, was established in 1843 at the time of the Disruption, when the minister of the parish church of Humbie adhered to the Free Church. The newly established session had to worship initially in a barn until a church was erected on a site at Upper Keith. Between the years 1884-1888 Humbie and Fala Free Church, as a result of a declining population, was conducted as a preaching station and upon the 1900 union of the United Presbyterians and the Free Church, the charge became Humbie United Free Church. In 1929, following the union of the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, Humbie United Free was joined with the congregation of Humbie Church of Scotland. |
