The first minister at Blairlogie Relief congregation, Rev John Warden, was inducted into his charge in 1762. Unfortunately, Rev Warden died a few years later in 1768 and a successor was sought, but the Blairlogie congregation carried a vacancy for some years. However, Rev Pirie, minister at Abernethy, preached many times at Blairlogie, and many considered him to be the minister there. He left his congregation in Abernethy in 1770, but was never officially inducted into Blairlogie; he seemed to be there purely on mutual consent. Eventually Mr Pirie left the congregation at Blairlogie, and preached his last sermon on 14th June 1778. A succession of ministers then followed and the congregation thrived to such an extent that under the ministry of Rev Robert Anderson, the congregation funded the building of a hall at Menstrie in 1892. By this time the congregation was part of the United Presbyterian Church, which was formed by the union of the Secession and Relief churches in 1847. Then in 1900 the congregation passed to the United Free Church as Blairlogie and Menstrie United Free. And when in 1929 the United Free Church passed back to the Established Church, the charge followed suit and became Blairlogie Church of Scotland, until 1953 when the congregation seceded from the Church of Scotland to the United Free Church. |
