Immediately after the Disruption of 1843 a congregation was formed as Cromar (Braes of Cromar and Coldstone) Free Church. Initially services were held in a barn, but a church and manse were erected between 1843 and 1844 and Rev Donald Stewart of Glengairn parish came as minister there. The charge passed to the United Free Church in 1900, simply as Cromar United Free. But in 1922 a union took place with Tarland to form Tarland and Cromar United Free Church. 1929 saw the charge return to the Established Church under the name of Tarland South and Cromar Church of Scotland. The congregation went through several unions in the coming years. The Cromar section formed a union with Logie Coldstone in 1933 (Logie-Coldstone and Cromar), whilst the Tarland South section was suppressed, until it united with Tarland St Moluag's in February 1940. A further union took place in 1945 when Logie-Coldstone and Cromar united with Migvie to form Logie-Coldstone and Migvie Church of Scotland. |
