At the Disruption of 1843 the minister at Lawers and almost the whole congregation 'came out' and joined the Free Church. The Marquis of Breadalbane kindly allowed the congregation to continue to worship in the church building. The charge passed to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland in 1900 and 1929 respectively. Lawers Church of Scotland was reduced in status in 1953 and was linked with the congregation of Kenmore in 1957, which was subsequently terminated in 1990 in favour of a union under the name of Kenmore and Lawers Church of Scotland. |
