Archival history |
In 1843 at the Disruption, the minister at Sorbie and approximately half the congregation 'came out'. It took some time to find a suitable site, but in 1844 a new church was built, and the building of a manse followed in 1848. The charge passed to the United Free Church in 1900, and then back to the Established Church as Sorbie West Church of Scotland in 1929. A union took place between the Sorbie charges of West and Old in 1937, with both churches remaining in use, the joint congregation being known simply as Sorbie Church of Scotland. A link was formed with Kirkinner on 8 Jun 1981. |
