A licentiate missionary was appointed to the preaching station of Netherton Bridge of Cally in 1872, and after a series of various ministers, the congregation passed to the United Free Church in 1900. The 'Bridge of Cally' was dropped from the name in 1921 when the congregation was simply known as Netherton United Free Church. When the United Free Church passed back to the Established Church in 1929, the charge became Netherton Church of Scotland. A union with Persie Church of Scotland took place in 1939; the united charge taking the name Persie and Netherton Church of Scotland. A further union occurred in 1953 with the Glenshee and Cray congregation to form Glenshee and Glenericht Church of Scotland. |
