The United Presbyterian Presbytery of Paisley initiated the setting up of a preaching station at Bridge of Weir as a Church Extension charge, and the station was opened for worship on 12th January 1890. The Sabbath services were conducted by a probationer, Mr Adam Wilson, and in June of 1890 after a Petition was issued to the Presbytery by the members, the station was erected into a congregation. At the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church in 1900, the congregation became Bridge of Weir Ranfurly United Free Church. When the United Free Church passed back to the Established Church, Bridge of Weir Ranfurly became a Church of Scotland charge. A union with Bridge of Weir St Machar's took place in 1968 to form Bridge of Weir St Machar's Ranfurly Church of Scotland. |
