Description |
The Free Church at Hopeman was an offshoot of the Burghead Free Church, and initially services were held in the school at Hopeman. In 1852 a new church was erected, a manse provided and the charge was fully sanctioned. At the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church in 1900, the church at Hopeman became Hopeman United Free Church. In 1911 the church was renovated and reseated with new galleries added to the building and the heating and lighting was updated. The charge passed back to the Established Church in 1929 as Hopeman Church of Scotland and in 1979 it formed a union with Duffus and Spynie as Duffus, Spynie and Hopeman Church of Scotland. |
