Services in Bearsden Free Church began in 1887 when the congregation worshipped in the local public school. The charge was sanctioned in 1888 and a new church was opened in February 1889. A union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterian church took place in 1900, forming the United Free Church of Scotland, and as a result of this union the Bearsden congregation took the name Bearsden North United Free Church. A further union took place in 1929 when the United Free Church and the Established Church united, and as a consequence of this the Bearsden congregation became part of the Church of Scotland under the name Bearsden North. In 2006 Bearsden North united with Bearsden South to form Bearsden Cross Parish Church of Scotland. |
