This congregation was formed at the Disruption of 1843 and worship commenced in a small, derelict Congregational Church. Church and Manse were erected in 1843-1844 with a new church being built in 1880. The congregation dwindled in subsequent years due to the reduced population of the area as a direct result of the removal of the railway and timber industries. The charge continued, however, eventually passing to the United Free Church in 1900 as Banchory Ternan South United Free. A union of Banchory Ternan South United Free and Banchory Ternan North took place in July 1918 to form Banchory United Free Church. When the United Free Church united with the Established Church in 1929, the charge passed to the Church of Scotland as Banchory Ternan West. |
