The free church and manse at Carnwath were erected immediately after the Disruption of 1843. At the time of the union between the Free Church and the United Presbyterian Church in 1900, two United Free Congregations were formed in Carnwath, Carnwath East (fomerly Free) and Carnwath West (formerly United Presbyterian). These two congregations united in 1904 to form Carnwath United Free Church under the ministry of Rev Daniel Harvey. In 1929 when the United Free church united with the Church of Scotland the charge passed back to the Established Church under the name of Carnwath Walker Memorial Church. A later union took place with Carnwath (St Mary's) in 1938; the Memorial Church being converted into a suite of halls, and St Mary's becoming Carnwath Parish Church. |
