The Stevenson Memorial Free congregation began life as a mission church built under the session of College Church. James Stevenson of Hailie contributed hugely to the cost and therefore the church was named after his father, Nathaniel Stevenson, a former elder of College Church. The charge was sanctioned in 1897, and passed successively to the United Free Church in 1902, and the Established Church in 1930. In 1979 the charge united with Kelvin Parish Church to form Kelvin Stevenson Memorial Church of Scotland. |
