St Stephen?s West Church, Glasgow, began at the Disruption, when the minister and congregation of an established St Stephen?s Church left to join the Free Church. A new church in New City Road opened in 1850. St Stephen?s Free (later United Free) Church joined the Church of Scotland at the union of 1929 and terminated in 1941 on uniting with Garnethill as St Stephen?s Garnethill. (Included St Stephen's Extension Charge, Church of Scotland, 1838-1843). As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Clydesdale. |
