This congregation was formed at the Disruption of 1843 as Mains and Strathmartine Free Church. A building was provided and the congregation was sanctioned in 1844. In 1900 when the Free Church united with the United Presbyterian Church, this congregation became Mains and Strathmartine United Free Church, passing subsequently to the Established Church in 1929 as Downfield Strathmartine Church of Scotland. In 1941 Downfield Strathmartine united with Downfield North and kept the name Downfield Strathmartine Church of Scotland. The North church was transformed into Parish Halls by the National Church Extension Committee in March 1951. |
