Chalmers South Church, Glasgow, began as a result of Free Church mission work in Gorbals in the 1850s. A church was built in Ballater Street in 1859. The congregation later removed to Pollokshaws Road at Cavendish Street (1898), and was known as Chalmers Free (later United Free) Church. It terminated in 1933 on uniting with Abbotsford as Abbotsford Chalmers. As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Clydesdale. |
