Musselburgh, Bridge Street United Presbyterian Church originated with a wider group from Inveresk, Newbattle and Dalkeith, who adhered to the first Secession. Those within Musselburgh disjoined and established a Burgher congregation in 1765. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches and in 1929 to the Church of Scotland. In 1960 it united with Musselburgh Millhill as Musselburgh St Andrew's. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Dalkeith and the synod of Lothian and Tweeddale. |
