Thurso United Original Secession Church began with an application for supply of sermon to the Antiburgher seceders in 1773. A church was built in 1777 and the first minister ordained in the same year. In 1852 the minister and most of the congregation adhered to the Free Church, leading to a protracted dispute about the property. The much smaller remainder, now United Original Seceders, were successful and proceeded to demolish the old place of worship and erect a new one. Their first minister was ordained in 1855. |
