Edderton Free Church was formed at the Disruption, when the minister and a large part of the congregation adhered to the Free Church. A new church had been built by the heritors in 1842, and the old one was now transferred by them to the new congregation. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Edderton West, which united with Edderton East as Edderton in 1939. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Tain and the synod of Ross, Sutherland and Caithness. |
