Johnstone West Burgher Church was formed by separation from Bruntshields in 1791, for what was then the thriving new town of Johnstone. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, in the latter case as Johnstone West, and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge, which was in the presbytery of Paisley and the synod of Clydesdale, united with Johnstone East as Johnstone St Paul's in 1965. |
