Montrose, St Paul's Free Church began soon after 1846 with mission work in the Castle Street district under Montrose St John's. The charge was sanctioned in 1860 and a church erected in 1861 (enlarged 1876). It passed to the United Free Church and united with Montrose Knox's as Montrose South United Free in 1916. The Church of Scotland charge united with Montrose Melville as Montrose Melville South in 1951. It was in the presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun and the synod of Angus and Mearns. |
