North Berwick Associate Session originated as a Burgher congregation which was already active in the 1770s. The first minister was ordained in 1784. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, in the latter case as North Berwick Abbey, and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Haddington and Dunbar and the synod of Lothian and Tweeddale. |
