The Kirk Session of Selkirk West was formed in 1850 within the United Presbyterian Church. In 1900, it became part of the Presbytery of Galashiels within the United Free Church, and in 1915, was united with the Selkirk Forest congregation, maintaining the name of Selkirk West. With the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church of Scotland in 1929, it became part of the Presbytery of Melrose. In 1963, it was united with Selkirk St. Mary?s to form Selkirk St. Mary?s West, and in 1986, it was united with Selkirk Heatherlie and Selkirk Lawson Memorial, under the name of Selkirk. At that time, it was also linked with Caddonfoot, however, this link was terminated in 1992. |
