history |
Inverness West Free Church began as a territorial mission from Inverness High Free Church. A church was built in 1863 and the charge sanctioned in 1866. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Inverness St Mark's West, which changed its name to Inverness Merkinch (St Mark's) in 1939. In 1971 it united with Inverness Queen Street as Inverness St Mark's (Queen Street and Merkinch), but the name was changed to Inverness, Trinity Church of Scotland shortly after the local union of 1971. |
