Cowcaddens Church, Glasgow, originated with Free Church mission work from Free Tron Church in 1862 and five years later was sanctioned as a separate charge, as Cowcaddens Free Church. The church, in McPhater Street at Maitland Street, dated from 1873. The charge passed from the Free to the United Free Church, and in 1929 to the Church of Scotland, before terminating in 1967 on uniting with St Stephen?s Blythswood as St Stephen?s (II). As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Clydesdale. |
