Kinloss (Findhorn) Free Church was formed at the Disruption, when the minister of Kinloss adhered to the Free Church, with part of his congregation. A church was built in the village of Findhorn and opened in 1844. The congregation, later known as Findhorn, transferred to the United Free Church as Kinloss and to the Church of Scotland as Findhorn. This united with Kinloss, the former parish church, in 1930 as Kinloss and Findhorn, which was vacant from 1975 to 1995, and then linked with Alves and Burghead. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Moray (formerly Elgin) and was in the synod of Moray until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
