The congregation of Forgandenny Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Perth, was established in 1843 at the time of the Disruption when the minister and a number of the congregation of Forgandenny parish church adhered to the Free Church. The first church and manse of Forgandenny Free church were built on a feu, terminable at the death of a life-renter, and in 1885, upon the death of James Drummond the first minister of the congregation, a new church and manse were erected at an alternative location. In 1900, upon the union of the United Presbyterians and the Free Church, Forgandenny Free became Forgandenny United Free, and as a result of the 1929 union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, Forgandenny United Free was joined in 1930 with the parish church congregation of Forgandenny. After this local union the former United Free church and manse were sold. |
