Aberlour Free Church was formed at the Disruption. The church was built in 1847 (almost entirely rebuilt, 1899) and the charge sanctioned in 1859. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, but a joint charge with the former Church of Scotland charge was created in 1930, retaining the United Free church, but lending it to a United Free Church (Continuing) congregation. The United Free charge was in the presbytery of Banff and Strathbogie and the synod of Aberdeen. |
