Leadhills Free Church originated in 1862, when a number of members of the established church petitioned Lanark Free Church presbytery to be received into the Free Church. A church building was erected in 1885. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Leadhills South, which united with Leadhills North as Leadhills in 1937. Leadhills united with Wanlockhead in 1952 as Wanlockhead and Leadhills. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Lanark and the synod of Clydesdale. |
