Kirkmichael (Lockerbie) Free Church originated as a preaching station under Lockerbie in 1848. The church was built in 1862 and a separate charge sanctioned in 1872, but it was reduced once more to a preaching station in 1885. It passed to the United Free Church in 1900, but with a church only, served by missionaries until linked with Lochmaben Barras in 1902. Lochnaben Barras and Kirkmichael then linked with Lochmaben Victoria as Lochmaben-Kirkmichael in 1920, and passed to the Church of Scotland as Lochmaben St Margaret's. The United Free charge was in the presbytery of Annandale and the synod of Dumfries and Galloway. |
