Banff Free Church was formed at the Disruption, when the minister and a large part of his congregation adhered to the Free Church. It passed to the United Free Church as Banff High, which united with Banff Trinity as Banff United Free in 1914. The name Banff Trinity was re-adopted after the transfer to the Church of Scotland. Banff Trinity united with Alvah as Banff Trinity and Alvah in 1961, and this in turn united with Banff St Mary's as Banff in 1994. The Church of Scotland charges were in the presbytery of Fordyce and in the synod of Aberdeen until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
