Tradeston United Free Church began as a Gaelic offshoot of Hope Street Gaelic Chapel, an established church which came out at the Disruption. The daughter church did likewise and built a new church, known as Argyle Gaelic Church, in Oswald Street near Argyle Street in 1847. The connection with Tradeston dated only from 1893, when the congregation purchased the former Gorbals Free Church and became successively Tradeston Gaelic Church and Tradeston United Free. The congregation terminated in 1911 on uniting with John Knox?s as John Knox and Tradeston. |
