The congregation of Fettercairn Free Church, which sat within the Presbytery of Fordoun and in later years of Brechin and Fordoun , was formally organised in June 1843, the year of the Disruption, and the charge was sanctioned in the following year. The church of Fettercairn United Free was opened in 1844 and the manse was built two years later in 1846. In 1900, at the union of the United Presbyterians and the Free Church, Fettercairn Free Church became Fettercairn United Free and following the 1929 union between the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, the congregations of Fettercairn United Free and Fettercairn Parish church were joined together, keeping the name of Fettercairn Church of Scotland. Following the union, under the title of Fettercairn Church of Scotland, the fomer United Free church and manse were sold. |
