Glasgow, St James' Free Church was formed by members of various east-end parishes in Glasgow at the Disruption. A church building in London Street was opened in 1845. It passed to the United Free Church in 1900 as Glasgow, St James United Free Church and united with St Luke's and Trinity in 1919 as Glasgow Central United Free. In 1921 it was disunited again and later passed to the Church of Scotland as Glasgow St James, Glasgow Cross in 1929. The congregation united with that of St Andrew's in 1939 as St Andrew's. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Clydesdale. |
