Hawick, Allars United Presbyterian Church originated in 1810, when a small group in the town petitioned for sermon to Edinburgh Relief Presbytery. A church was built in 1811. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, and to the Church of Scotland. Hawick Allars seceded from the Church of Scotland in 1948 and dissolved a month later. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Hawick and the synod of Merse and Teviotdale. |
