Kingarth South Free Church began with services from 1861 onwards. The charge was sanctioned in 1868 and a church built by 1873. In 1899 the name changed from Kingarth South to Kilchattan Bay. Under that name it passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, but in 1931 united with Kingarth as Kingarth and Kilchattan Bay. Both the United Free and Church of Scotland charges were in the presbytery of Dunoon and the synod of Argyll. |
