Bowmore Free Church originated as a preaching station in 1856 and was sanctioned as a separate charge from Killarrow and Kilmeny in 1859. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland. In 1931 it united with Kilarrow (so spelt) and with Skerrols, a Church of Scotland mission, as Kilarrow. The United Free Church and Church of Scotland charges were both in the presbytery of Islay and the synod of Argyll. |
