Parkhead East Church, Glasgow, began in 1872 as a United Presbyterian charge, although there had been a false start in the 1830s by the Secession Presbytery. The church, in Westmuir Street, Parkhead, dated from 1878. The congregation later became Parkhead United Free Church and terminated in 1965 on uniting with Parkhead West as Parkhead, which continued to worship in the Westmuir Street building. As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Clydesdale. |
