Edinburgh, Merchiston United Presbyterian Church originated as preaching station, opened by Dr John Ker. The congregation was formed in 1883 and a minister inducted in 1885. It passed successively to the United Free Church, as Edinburgh John Ker Memorial, and to the Church of Scotland. In 1981 Edinburgh Polwarth was formed by the union of Candlish and John Ker Memorial. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Edinburgh and the synod of Lothian and Tweeddale. |
