Fordyce Free Church originated at the Disruption, when a number of members of the local congregation adhered to the Free Church. The charge was sanctioned in 1844, reduced to a station in 1872, but restored to full status four years later. It passed successively to the United Free Church and to the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Fordyce East, which united with Fordyce Old as Fordyce in 1934. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Fordyce and the synod of Aberdeen. |
