Biggar, Gillespie Relief Church originated in a patronage dispute in 1780, leading to a petition for sermon and the construction of a Relief church in 1781. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge united with Biggar Moat Park as Biggar Gillespie Moat Park in 1946. It had been in the presbytery of Lanark and the synod of Clydesdale. |
