history |
Biggar, Moat Park Associate (Burgher) Congregation Church originated in 1756 when Edinburgh Secession Presbytery recognised Biggar, which had been an early focus of the Seceders, as a Burgher congregation. The first church building was erected in 1760. It passed successively to the United Free Church, as Biggar Moatpark (so spelt), and to the Church of Scotland as Biggar Moat Park. This united with Biggar Gillespie in 1946 as Biggar Gillespie Moat Park. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Lanark and the synod of Clydesdale. |
