Horndean United Presbyterian Church began as a Burgher church built in 1786 for a congregation in Ladykirk parish. The first minister was ordained in the following year. It passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, but came to an end shortly thereafter. A church was built at Paxton and opened in 1908, to take its place. The United Presbyterian charge was in the presbytery of Duns. |
