Tongland and Twynholm Free Church originated with a congregation formed from the two parishes at the Disruption. The charge was sanctioned in 1844 and a church built in the following year. It passed successively to the United Free Church, as Tarff Valley, and to the Church of Scotland. Tarff Valley united with Tongland as Tongland in 1932. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Kirkcudbright and the synod of Dumfries and Galloway. |
