The origins of Clackmannan Erskine Church lie in the secession of a part of the congregation from Clackmannan in 1788. The dissenters objected to methods of choosing ministers and became part of the Relief Church which had been formed in 1761. The church became part of the United Presbyterian Church in 1867 on the union of the Relief Church with the United Secession Church. On the union of the United Presbyterian Church and the Free Church, Clackmannan Erskine became part of the United Free Church in the Presbytery of Stirling and Dunblane. In 1932 Clackmannan St Andrew's-on-the-Hill was united with Clackmannan Erskine and Clackmannan Mayfield to form Clackmannan Kirk Session. |
