Eyemouth, St John's Free Church was formed at the Disruption, when the minister and congregation adhered to the Free Church. A new church was opened in 1844 (replaced 1879). As a United Free congregation it united with Eyemouth East in 1917 and passed to the Church of Scotland at the union of 1929. It was reduced in status in 1950 and united with Eyemouth Old in 1954. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Duns and the synod of Merse and Teviotdale. |
